I Nazisti collaborano con Rasputin, mistico russo, su un'isola isolata al largo della costa Scozzese nel 1945. Il loro
scopo è quello di utilizzare un portale dimensionale, per risvegliare gli Ogdru Jahad (i Sette Dèi del Caos),
entità mostruose che sono state imprigionate ed addormentate in un tempo indeterminato. Ma Rasputin intende
segretamente usare le entità per provocare la distruzione della Terra. Gli Stati Uniti organizzano una piccola
squadra per distruggere il portale, guidato da un giovane dottore, il Professor Trevor Bruttenholm, esperto di
paranormale. Nella battaglia che segue, gli scienziati e i soldati Tedeschi sono uccisi o fatti prigionieri, mentre
Rasputin muore risucchiato nel portale (distrutto poco prima dal professor Bruttenholm). Ilsa e Kroenen, due adepti di
Rasputin, riescono a sfuggire alla cattura. Mentre la squadra esplora le rovine, trova un bambino-demone dalla pelle
rossa con la mano destra fatta di pietra: "Hellboy".
